Brake Wear & IID Tool
My brake wear warning light has just popped on , so i thought I'd use the IID tool to find out if it's the from or back sensor that's worn to save a bit of effort grovelling around underneath. Am I just being thick , or does the IID not tell you which sensor is worn? If it does tell you, which section is the information in?
And.... what thickness of disc needs to be left to avoid needing to replace them as well?
Thanks.MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added

Mine has just come on also but the information display on the dash tells me it's the front pads (D3), does it not display that on a D4?

The information is stamped on the outside edge of the disk, ISTR 27mm is the minimum for the front. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

The D4 isn't that helpful

Mine has just worn down to the metal on one of the rear pads. No warning light
AIUI (thanks Robbo) not all wheels have a warning sensor. Sucks really given the price of these things ...

My D3 never let me know which pads were worn, knew it was the fronts though. Yellow warning only, thought it would've went red ?
Mine were worn down to the rivets !

D3 has the sensors on the front nearside and rear offside.
Just replaced my front one, had an intermittent yellow light and warning on the dash.
On inspection the sensor had come loose and had lost the spring clip that keeps it in place, plenty meat on the pads, sensor had worn as it was'nt sitting properly.
Picked up genuine ones for both ends for £4.50 each delivered from the well known auction place

The sensors are a bit naff, and in my opinion really are no replacement for a good visual inspection.
Also, sticking caliper will wear a pad out very quickly, and you have a 1 in 4 chance of it being on a sensor equipped pad.

I'm sure I read somewhere
Yellow related to pads
Red related to fluid level
