Heater not working until high revs
Hi all,
New owner here (if fact I bought it today)!
It's a 1 owner from new, full service history motorway muncher. It's a 2012 model with 140k on the clock. I know that's high but it's been exceptionally well looked after by all accounts...
On my journey home from Nottingham it felt a bit cold in the car, so I turned the climate control up. After about 15 minutes I noticed the cabin wasn't getting any warmer... even on 'hi' i was getting no heat out of the vents. Temperature gauge was reading bang in the middle and engine is up to temperature. To cut a long story short I discovered that if I revved the nuts off the engine the heater would blow warm, although not exactly hot!
So to sum up, no heat at idle or low revs and some heat at high revs. I'm thinking it's an airlock somewhere in the heating system? I've searched high and low to see if there is a way of bleeding it but can't find anything.
Would really appreciate some advice...
Thanks!

Have you checked your coolant level?

Just checked it and it is a little low although maybe only by a pint or two. Would that make a significant difference?

Ive heard some D4's having a nightmare airlock, where you have to try to put the car at 45degrees and rev it to get the airlock through.Bodsys Brake Bible
