| New Compressor Hiss like Dump Valve |
|
Hi,
I had suspension issues and it all pointed to a compressor. Bought a replacement compressor and all is well now with the suspension. BUT when the pump cuts off it now makes a hiss like a dump valve on a turbo releasing pressure.
Would anyone know why its doing this?

Mine has done this since I've had the car, almost 4 years (2008 HSE D3), reminds me of
the sound of skipping a stone across a frozen pond so maybe this is the new normal for your car?

My brother has a Disco and his doesnt do this and mine never did. I dont mind it it actually sounds cool but when I asked the supplier of the new compressor he said it shouldnt do this? quite normal nothing to worry about,when the system gets upto pressure and switches off the compressor it discharges the air in the compressor system (not the air tank) so the next time it fires up it has not got to overcome the high pressure to start the compressor
some sound different depending what compressor you have fitted I have a amk its hardly noticeable when it vents unless you wait around the ns/r arch and listen for it please excuse any grammer/punctuation mistakes,i'm thick,thankyou

Sounds like a bus.... Just odd it didn't do it before and the supplier of the compressor said it shouldnt do it...

what compressor did you fit, what did you have on before, if its not the same you need to update the software did you fit it yourself ?
post no3 you say supplier says it SHOULD do this ?? please excuse any grammer/punctuation mistakes,i'm thick,thankyou

Sorry! Shouldnt do this
Compressor was a Hitachi genuine unit. New one is a Hitachi Replacement so no software update needed. Discovery 3 HSE MY2006 - On the very edge of Kent known as Sunny Margate

hitachi are know for a noisy exhaust so maybe you didn't notice before as your old unit was foofed,think I would be more worried if it was quite than noisy please excuse any grammer/punctuation mistakes,i'm thick,thankyou
