New indi needed Gloucester (moving house)
I am moving to Gloucestershire (Stroud area) and will need an indi, as I have the belt change coming up.
Are there any really good places round there that anyone can recommend?
Thanks
Phil

I've found options to be a bit limited without travelling. For a belt change - if you're happy to travel - then Geoff and Flack do regular belt change weekends in Kent. That's how I and many other members on here have had theirs done. Definitely recommended.
And then there's Steve Norman - highly respected Indi in Somerset. Bit further afield.
Woody32 - another sponsor on here is also in Somerset. He may well do belt changes.
There's also an option down towards Andover I think but I can't recall the details.2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

As mentioned, there's Cam-Tech near Dursley, Cotswold Motoring Services between Stroud and Stonehouse and then Tim Fry in Cheltenham. All have very good reputations.

MJ Fews are close to Stroud. A Land Rover approved service centre, they're a fair bit cheaper than a main dealer, but use all LR parts and have the same level of training etc. Fully recognised by LR for all warranty work etc. A good small business to deal with. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Ah yes, I forgot about Tim Fry . Wasn't aware of Cotswold Motoring Services - another one to add to the list .2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

Not been impressed on the last two occasions I've used M J Fews if I'm honest. Which is real shame because I want to like them.Front Runner Rack, OEM Ladder & RAI, Tuff-Trek Foxwing, B'rakhah Ingonyama Expedition Trailer, RLD's Spare Wheel Protector, Bodsy's Bars, Empty Pockets! ^ Do tell more.
I've only used them three times, two services and some warranty work. I really couldn't fault them. I've had two long conversations on generic Land Rover nonsense with the service manager, he and the rest of the staff seem to be genuine enthusiasts.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

My car went in recently as I asked them to run their own diagnostics on a few IID faults with the battery monitoring module, central fuse box, DAB/FM signal and faulty switches on the steering wheel.
I had to book the car in three weeks ahead (which is fine and to be expected) and got a one hour slot from 11-12. It seemed I would have been better just turning up and asking for something to be done though...two people did just that while I was waiting so my car wasn't seen for 30 mins.
In the end my car was handed back to me nearly an hour late, but was told they ran out of time to check the steering wheel and couldn't test the DAB/FM because they don't have signal in Wotton-Under-Edge. Still had to pay £95 for the privilege though.
I did get two coffees out of them and an explanation for the BMM and CFB faults though, which they traced back to the split charge system.Front Runner Rack, OEM Ladder & RAI, Tuff-Trek Foxwing, B'rakhah Ingonyama Expedition Trailer, RLD's Spare Wheel Protector, Bodsy's Bars, Empty Pockets! The best in area IMO, although quite a bit further is Alltrack 4x4 near Malvern. People travel from all over the country to go there.
I’d avoid Tim Fry like the plague. Never heard a good word about them and the place used to be a complete dump, been many years since I used to frequent it though.
CMS always gets a good write up, and every time I’ve tried to book my d2 in there, they have told me they have a 2-3 week waiting time, which I guess is a good sign, but I’m not sure if I’d take my d3 there.

I know they have a loyal following and have been in business for decades, which I guess is a good thing, but means they're always busy.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

I have just booked in with Cotswold Motoring Services.
Earliest date is a month away, but I went for the 2nd July as its after payday!
Both belts will be done and he has a loan car available too, so thats a bonus
It'll be Freelander 1 I expect, with the winding window in the boot...why did they not think of that in the Disco 3/4???
