If you have a nice full size tire and an alloy wheel there it might be a very sensible thing to do.
I have a normal “use only in real emergencies” space saver underneath so I haven’t bothered. I certainly would should I ever change to a full size one.
You might want to update your profile, the advice might be slightly more accurate.

Uncle Ray. I've had the D3 and D4 versions. Both very well made and Uncle Ray is a very nice chap to deal with.

Definitely PM Uncle Ray. My spare wheel was nicked ( ) and winch wire cut after I'd only had the car a few weeks. Had to get a spare wheel & tyre and new winch fitted - then contacted Uncle Ray, sent the wheel protector - easy job to fit - and spare wheel is still there!
And yes, he is a very nice man Uncle Ray's spare wheel protector

Where do all these odd nicked wheels and tyres go? I've had mine stolen recently; full alloy and reasonable tyre - christ knows when as I don't leave it lying around.
There's not a helluva lot on eBay - who's got them all? C'mon own up....
I've got a plate coming from RLD when he gets back - it's a must and LR are delinquent in making that kit so easy to remove.
I know they're (relatively) cheap to buy a replacent winch but can you recable them?
