Driver Info touchscreen unit dilemma. |
|
On my recently acquired 2006 D3 SE, the unit isn't the standard one that I'm told came with the original vehicles - looks to be a replacement from a RRS. Not a problem in itself (all works fine), but whoever fitted it has boobed with the wiring/setup. For the two hard switches, the home switch takes you to the SatNav function and the navigation switch to the phone setup. It's now become clear why I haven't been able to access the hidden diagnostic menu.
Question - is there someway of reassigning the two hard buttons to their correct functions, either via the control panel in some way or updating the ECU setup? Or, is it a hard-wiring issue that will require the unit to be accessed behind the dash and corrections made to the two switches' contacts? Couldn't find anything relating to this in the idiot's guide - which makes reference to the original part interface.

does it have a reverse camera ?
You can modify them (but cutting a yellow wire inside) to go into range rover mode.
The advantage is for a reversing camera
This also swaps the 2 buttons as you describe

No reverse camera fitted. Does this sound as though the wire you describe has already been cut - so in effect I'm stuck with what I have, unless someone goes round the back and does a repair job on the two ends - assuming they're there to be repaired of course?

Do your screen images look EXACTLY like this?

The wire is inside the unit to be reconnected.
There may be a good reason to leave it however, once you understand it.

Yes. I've the six elements in the menus. Phone setup simply states no phone installed. Some of the menu options don't work. The main options/displays look OK although I haven't tried out every last option - such as the diff locks and so forth.
Clear now that a previous owner has hacked this.
