Mechatronic / valve body symptoms |
|
Hi
Just interested to know what symptoms could be of a damaged/unhappy valve body?
Acceleration can sometimes have a step in a gear, in that it will sit at say 2,500rpm for a bit then move on which is accompanied with a brief hydraulic type noise before smoothly accelerating through the rest of the rev range. This isn't all the time, and is intermittent. I don't know if the hydraulic noise of what sounds liek a valve shifting is just noticeable because it's a V8 and fairly quiet? Gearbox oil is clean, unburnt and full.
I've had a failed TC before on a previous D3, but seems totally different, certainly not a judder, or vibration going on. (Vibration I thought I had before turned out to be seized brake )
It's hard to put symptoms accurately into words but any input would be gratefully received!

as its a petrol, sometimes if the fuel trim is near the end stop, it can hold the revs before shifting up.
but that doesn't explain the noise

Mine's at 117k and pretty smooth on the change up and down. It's rare for it to hold on until 2500 rpm unless it has some resistance (climbing an hill / moving at a rapid pace "officer") or cold.

It's a strange one. I bought it as a Cat D, so wondering if the impact might have damaged a valve potentially.
