Easy Job To Swap AMK Conpressor For Hitachi?
Allegedly my new to me D4 has just been fitted with a new Hitachi conpressor but I’m unconvinced it’s even Hitachi. My D3 currently has a four year old AMK compressor fitted, would I be better off swapping the two, and if so is it a straight swap?

I thought D4s were only AMK.
Though I might be wrong, it has been known. It was a Tuesday, and raining.

Yes but it is loud and runs a lot longer than me D3 ever did.
Edit: Just trying to get all the best bits off my D3 onto my D4 before I chop it in!

I own a 2010 D4. I recently rebuilt my Hitachi compressor and it looks the same as the eBay picture and from what I can see the images. If you do swap between AMK and Hitachi you’re supposed to update the ECU, which can be done via an IIDTool.
I wonder if it’s reinstallation wasn’t done right and that’s why it’s noisy? Eg has the top bolt been left out as it’s damn hard to get back in. Might cause extra noise, not sure).

That's a Hitachi compressor, or a copy of one! AMK should look something like this.

From memory its a different pipe arrangement (kit available) and you will need to re-flash the suspension ECU. If you do decide to do it, replace the dryer desiccant and filters before you swap. (small job!)yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ
