Door lock question
Do the door lock actuators differ from passive to normal?
My rear passenger door lock is getting lazy and ive just ordered one off the bay, however im now thinking there may be 2 types. One for keyless passive entry and one for normal remote locking.
Can any one confirm this please, if so I will have to cancel the one off ebay and give dan a ring.
Many thanks in advance.

Great, and now the eBay seller won’t let me cancel the order. Argh!

I’m thinking I might strip the old unit down and clean it up. Just need a warm dry day now!
Just found the thread on it. Another reason to be on this forum! As usual, find everything you need.
Thanks guys.

You are better off not cancelling, cancelling has caused me a lot of agro in the past, simply wait till it arrives then tell the seller it does not fit, if he won’t refund follow eblag rules and start a dispute with him you will get your money back and return postage. Eblag is always and I mean always on the side of the buyer in a dispute, that is why I no longer sell on Eblag, buy yes, sell no not worth the hassle and extortionate hidden fees that arrive six weeks after a sale
It is the largest motor in the photo that usually fails through carbon grime from the brushes, it simply lifts out and plugs back in after cleaning, it takes 2-3 hours first time to strip down and replace first time you do one, do it now while you can still open the door, if it fails with the door closed it will cost you a new door card.

That’s great m3dpo. Hopefully the weather will be good this weekend. I’m thinking I may ring dan for a price just to see. I just don’t want my car stuck with out a functioning lock if I don’t finish it for whatever reason.
Knowing my luck I’ll snap something!
I wonder what the difference between locks is? You’d think the lock was the same just the control that was different.
Gotta love these cars, when else does a door lock fail?

I believe the locks are backwards compatible but not forwards, in other words a new type will fit and operate on older cars (pre-keyless) but obviously a keyless lock must have a keyless type actuator.
This type of motor or variation of it is fitted in a large range of cars making this fault common.
Have a read at this and you will realise how important it is to do it ASAP while you can still open the door.

Word of warning, as I was doing mine last Monday got the door card off as far as just the cable left to detatch , as I try'd to get it off the plastic Knotch broke .
I think it was because I pulled on one side only, so Make sure you pull on both sides of where it clips into and pull it out square .
Oh and the dealer didnt have one in stock , so pick it up tomorrow ...............hopefuly
