How all. Just changed a 2014 Freelander 2 for a 2016 Discovery 4. It has the detachable towbar which is fine for the light 19ft Lough boat and trailer I pull around Ireland. My query is about the towbar electrics, it has a 12 pin caravan plug which I will not be using but does not have the 7 pin plug for the boat trailer. Are the conversion plugs I've seen safe. The Disco would have more complicated wiring than what I would b used to tinkering with so Is this a towbar specialist job, an auto sparks job or horror of horrors a stealers only job. Go easy, I'm still new here

Used an adaptor on VW Tiguan and Freelander 2, before current D4 with no problems.
Just be careful your cable doesn't drag on the floor if you use a cable type adaptor,
they add about a foot to your length ! (oo er Mrs !)
