Tracking and tyres tomorrow, any thing I should know?
I'm having new tyres fitted tomorrow. I'm also having the tracking done on a 4 wheel tracker. The garage tell me they know what they are doing but I just want to check.
Does the tail gate need to be open to stop the suspension moving?
They don't do ttm but say it will be fine.
My steering wheel is off slightly and in hoping to get thus sorted.
Many thanks, Steve. You remind me of a younger me, not much younger mind...perhaps even a little older!

I've never used TTM, Im not even certain there's any need for it.
What is certain however, you need a 4 wheel alignment not a tracking adjustment.
These vehicles are rather intolerant of having the running geometry outside acceptable limits.
If it's not set up correctly, at best you'll scrub tyres, at worst you'll have all sorts of steering and suspension problems.
Those tyres are expensive, don't ruin them by not having a proper 4 wheel alignment.Mods:

I thought I read somewhere you need to leave the tailgate open. Is thus true?

There have been some posts suggesting that leaving the tailgate open will stop the suspension moving. It doesn't seem to work on my car.Richard

It is sufficient to get on the alignment bench, wait a few moments with the engine running until the car is leveled, open the driver's door, leave it open for the duration of the control and adjustment operations.
With the door open, turn off the engine (remember, leave the door open) and start the operations.Discovery 5 tdv6 HSE Corris Gray Outback Engineering Limited Edition

Mine WAS booked in last Tuesday for a full hunter alignment but I had to cancel as when putting my injectors back in one of the āSatanā clips (new name as they can only have been invented by the Antichrist himself) decided to snap itself out of existence. It was there then it went āpingā and left the planet. 2 days I searched for it. Had new ones off eBay now.
Booked back in this week. Iāll report back on what happens. Iāve made sure all movement points were free and copperslipped so they shouldnāt have any problems. They did tell me for a disco to either fill the tank or have lots of stuff in the boot. Jarrod

All done. Guys did a great job. New tyres are silent. Ride and handing so much better. Went for uniroyal rain sport 3.
Mate supplied the tyres so practically free.
Well happy with the results. They are very much a road tyre tho.
