If tensioner has snapped off and cam locked up would youi not be better off putting a recon engine in it?

Yes body on ( if it turns out too bad then body off ) basical the camshaft sprocket has complenty broke off the end with bolt still intact .its like something jamed i put a cammra down injector holes and valves look intact as do the pistons tbh i turned the crankshaft all pistons move free .so im assuming cranks ok ..hydrolic lifters arnt broke and camshaft bolts and chain are all intact .as i carnt get the rear belt pulley off (nothing to lock cam with) assuming bolt is normal way to undo .had a peak at the oil ways under the camshafts no odd marks either .but i did notice the 3 13mm timing pulley bolts have moved with what ever caused it ?

In all honesty, I wouldn't even consider doing the job with the body on.

I know it can be done, but it really is not worth the hassle, as you are finding out

That is idenical problem .new cambelt kit was fitted .ive removed the camcover last night and noticed both cams and chain are intact and not siezed as well pistons dont have any marks on them all roller rockers are fine .something defo locked because 3 of the pylley bolts have been forced (moved from oringal place)
Ive come accross this before on vauxhalls mostly 1.3cdti as the cam snaps .as there hollow and have the high pressure pump on the rear ..looking at the tdv6 cam poor idea hollow camshafts with pressed on lobs..
Cheers guys really helpfull forium .im glad i never one new .but im glad i bought this cheep ..

I know everyone said remove body .but i decided just to remove the head .
Reasons due to snaped cam no compression no2 clyinder .plus as milage is reaching 128k thought id buy another turbo to be save a job .easyer to remove while heads off ..
Checked crank .and removed main caps no crankshaft issuises (luckly)
Quick picture of the engine .i didnt think it was that bad tbh ..considering i dont really do 4x4s
