Help please D4 won't start
Had a problem with my disco 4. Yesterday it wouldn’t start ignition comes on fine as soon as you press the start button everything turns off. When I tried the lights with the ignition on the same thing happened, I assumed it was the battery. So I’ve just fitted a brand new one . Still the same. Could do with some help on what I should be checking

Many thanks for your support. Very strange solution which I read on another thread. Its worth saying that one thing I noticed while trying to get this resolved was the brake pedal seemed higher and harder than normal.
Anyhow, the thread described stamping on the brake pedal hard. So I tried it and to my amazement it worked. The engine started normally and the brake pedal was back to normal. I'm sure one of you sages out there could provide an explanation, which I would be interested to hear. I have to say I'm just relieved the truck is back to normal.
Thanks again for your support.

When i read your initial post, i knew it was brake pedal wasn't been pressed hard enough.
Ive done the same thing before. My dad also rang me once saying his D4 wouldnt start - He had been checking the oil, and had obviously been resting his foot on the brake.
I think if you press the brake a few times, with the engine off, it goes hard and loses the assistance. You then have to push it really hard to get it to start.

Thanks Rob. I wish I'd known prior to replacing the battery. On a positive note I now have a spare one in the garage
