Thanks for posting
The guy is saying that the bearing tabs stop bearing rotation. Someone must know the truth.

It’s not the first time that has been criticised.

I watched the first few of these a couple of months back. Great videos and very interesting.
It looks like the rebuild is being carried out in a dusty bodyshop. Not sure if all of that dust is any good for the internals Kev

Excellent video's, I learnt something from watching those, particularly the different shell materials

Yes, I've spoken to Steve a few times recently. It turns out he only lives a couple of miles away from my Dad.
This one, the chap was driving back from West Wales towing a caravan and it seized Kev

I didnt know it was a problem on the 3.0, i thought it was only on the 2.7 and the problem with the 3.0 was the crankshaft snapping

Unfortunately not. One of the rod bearings turned on my 3.0 TDV6 last year. My crank didn't snap though...

Kill me now. If a bearing is grabbed enough that it needs a tang (not tab) to keep it in place it's ******* anyhow. Bearings are held in by their elliptical shape and the tension in the shell. They don't need a tang to keep them in place - the tang was only to assist hand assembly early on. Bearings spin because the crank/conrod grabs them because something has gone out of spec or oil lubrication has failed. We know there are design flaws in the V6 engine that causes harmonics that can kill cranks in these engines.
It's of no surprise that LR have gone back to straight engines for future cars given the better harmonics of straight engines. That said, it's possible to make a v6 sing, just not 100% reliably seemingly LR
