Hi all, just hoping for a bit of advice as my local specialist is closed,
I was out in my disco 3 and everything was fine running as usual, I then returned home and parked her up.
I didn’t use her for a week as used our car for work and when I went to start it nothing! Battery was dead, fitted new battery today it fires up but then konks our and has hdc, engine fault etc!
Any ideas
Cheers in advance

Just had another little play and when I turn ignition on but don’t start the glow plug light flashes and there is several clicks so maybe glow plugs have gone

How can the battery be low when it is brand new! I took it out of the box and fitted it straight away and as I say it then just drops off revs gives a whole list of fault then dies

"I took it out of the box and fitted it straight away" doesn't mean it is fully charged or it could be faulty. L633 Defender

Your alternator could have failed, and be shorting out therefore draining your new battery? Check the voltage with a voltmeter with battery disconnected.

Failed alternator goosed the battery ?

I hope not, but if you do have to replace the alternator don't be tempted by a cheap alternative to the Denso.

Nipped out and tested battery as it’s been on the girl for 3 hours now and still reads 12.6 so hasn’t flattened it

Ok that’s good voltage so it’s not that. When you were fitting the battery, did you inadvertently dislodge any connectors behind it? Worth checking all plugs are good, as it’s a bit tight in there and easily disturbed.
