Recoding will be required if you fit a replacement instrument cluster. You also have no idea whether or not your replacement will fail in exactly the same way a short time after you fit it. That's why a repair by Totaltronics (or somewhere similar) will always be the most reliable and cost-effective way forward.

You could always way up the costs of the dash repair and postal costs compared to buying a second hand GAP lld and a pre 2007 dash that isnt effected by the lead free solder.
If there not too different buying a GAP will save you a fortune in the future

I have used Acutronics and totaltronics has been recommended on here, i believe both have very quick turn arounds normally before covid.
I also believe that totaltronics will remove and repair your clocks while you wait if you make an appointment.

If you can spare a day, you can arrange with Patryk at Totaltronics to take your vehicle to him. He'll remove the instrument cluster, fix the problem, and refit the cluster - will take two hours at most.
