Woo Hoo, go Evil bay!
Just won a set of 100kg 900mm drawer slides for $105. I reckon this should allow me to almost slide out the full depth of the drawer. The rear space (with centre row seats up) is only slightly over a metre in length.
I'll be looking for a 600 or 700 mm drawer slides for the second level of the cage and this is only about $70 delivered on Evil-Bay.
Combine the above 2 drawer slides with my existing fridge slide and I'll have an all slipping and all sliding doodad

Here is my home-made system which is a MkII solution after the one in my D2:
with fridge slide:
12mm Plywood, with some carpet covering the bits where I did not want it to rub on the car interior. A pair of 100kg slides with a 17mm plywood base and a padbolt slide to stop it moving ...
Also, we had this much on the roof, for a family of 4:

Hi All,
Thought I would attach my home made roller drawersystem. I looking at roller drawers and weighed up buying ready made or make my own, on the one hand ready made so much easier but far more expensive and on the other cheaper. more effort but much more fun in the making. Oh yes the minister of war and finance unfortunately had a big say in my choice for a homemade solution.
Now for the lessons learnt
1) Its more expensive than you think, after adding in sundries like glue, bolts, screws etc
2) Took longer than expected
3) Measure measure and re-measure, I found I had to re-cut a few times.
4) The most important piece is the roller system, I opted for a cheaper 1000mm roller drawersystem from ebay. Next time round I will probably opt for a better set of runners, at the moment I have an issue with rattles.
5) Access to the spare wheel winding mechanism gave me the greatest headache. Now solved.
6) Consider weight, a combination of plastic aluminum and marine ply 12 and 9mm.
My primary requirements
1) Access cooler box (later fridge) with lower rear door closed
2) Ability to sleep in car, on over night camping trips without the better half I take a smaller cooler and sleep in the car.
3) Wanted a system that is easy to pack. Opted for wolfpack boxes through Opposite Lock Brookvale. It also keeps weight down. Dolium Pty is the suppliers of Gomo and Wolfpack Storage boxes.
4) Minimise cost.

After all would I do it again, yes most definitely.
Things still to do
1) Fix rattles; I believe a matter of locking drawer in place when closed
2) Enable access to spare tyre mechanism, need to drill/cut hole throgh from top of drawer to adaptor set permanently in place. I purchase adaptor set from SuperCheap Auto.
3) Extend sleeping area.

Rear Drawers
Some initial photos of the rear drawer syst installeed by Opposite Lock finally posted. They built a frame which bolts into the normal 'tie down' points and the drawersystem slides into that and is held in place by rear locking pins and 3 bolts in the front. Very neat.
More phot's to come when I get around to loading.

22mm socket - Bunnings
3/8" F X 1/2" M Adaptor - Supercheap Auto
1/4" F X 3/8" M Adaptor - Supercheap Auto
7cm 1/4" extension - Supercheap Auto.
Small ratchet spanner – Bunnings
3/8†F X 1/4†M for the ratchet spanner, this adaptor would not be necessary with a different ratchet spanner, also from Supercheap Auto. The small ratchet spanner is easy to store and provides enough leverage to unwind spare wheel.
Diameter of the 1/4" extension set is small enough to fit between rear seats and the kit consists of three lengths, when connect together are long enough to unwind spare tyre without the need to remove rear drawers. The plan is to cut/drill access way in drawersystem this weekend. I also tried a universal joint socket adaptor but this does not work due to the lack of space with rear seats folded down.

Thanks Craig, my next question would have been what size!!
You don't happen to know where to buy a Torx bit big enough to remove the rear seats do you? Everywhere I've looked (Bunnings, Supercheap) don't sell them big enough!!

Just a tip lads.The rubber cap on the spare wheel lowering nut is also a watertight seal.So if you're going to do any wading with the sockets in place , stuff some neoprene or foam down into it to keep any water to a minimum.

You need more the neoprene foam on long wades, seal it properly.
