I can totally understand that and relate to it. Nothing more important than life itself. If nothing else it has just reaffirmed to me that not everyone in the world is just looking out for themselves. I have received nothing but help and support from my LR family and for me that's worth loads.

If you're not shipping it back home, you could sell it for spares. Even a Disco with a bust engine would fetch a fair amount. If you like I could put you in touch with the Norwegian LR Club, or get a message out on our forum.

The Immingham to Brevik ferry is possible (although you need to provide proof of purpose), the cost however is around £1000 each way! And takes between 36-45 hours… only 174 miles (or 5 hours) to Odda from Brevik though
The only other real alternative could be Harwich to Hook if Holland and then drive north but then that would be 12-15 hours… either way you’d need to allow a week to get from Scotland to Odda and back.
If you can’t go yourself then you’d need to find someone with a D3/4 and access to a trailer who had a week free …. I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Since the ferry Harwich-Hook of Holland in a disco3 without a trailer is 500 quid for a 2 way trip (used this Stenaline last week) a trailer will add additional fee’s and the additional fuel to drive all the way to Oslo + the bridge fee, or ferry, (bridge/ferry also between 100/300 quid) + hotel, etc… and back!
1000 quid for brevik-immingham sounds not that bad… if someone can bring it from odda to brevik…Best regards
Harold

I’m around 45 mins from immingham with a disco and trailer if you needed help collecting from the ferry and storing temporarily. I don’t think I’d be able to get it up to Scotland but I could relay it a bit closer if it helped.

could you get a local recovery company to transport the car to the ferry and load it as a non runner then you only have to collect the car from the ferry and pay a one way on the ferry . i have seen this done a few times with hgvs .2005 discovery 3 tdv6

If you can do that it’s a massive saving over two ways with a car and trailer!

Why? Is Norway on the itinerary on the way back ? Just how much luggage are you allowed on the train ? I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

I did this when the gearbox on my MGB GT V8 apparently failed on a rally in Spain.
Got the car to the ferry port using RAC supplied local recovery.
With the help of my navigator pushed it on to the lower deck of the ferry in Bilbao. RAC recovered it from the ferry in Portsmouth & delivered it to my chosen garage.
The failed gearbox, diagnosed by a number of "experts" transpired to be a cracked washer costing £0.25 plus about £50 labour to replace!
I would recommend escorting the car personally, as polite requests to help were never refused by Spanish port officials & labourers & ferry staff.

Hi Folks,
Literally was going to update today. My old girl was picked up today by CMG. Massive shout out and thanks to Louise for her patience with me and all my questions and the rest of the team and to David the driver bringing her home.
Should be back with me Mon/Tues next week. Then I can sort it out.
