We have gaff wired up on an online weather station, inside and out. Good to see how cold it is outside and confirm that the heating is keeping the house at a nice safe +8c. All while sat outside in +30something.

The sun will also set, in Helsinki, at 2250 on the 22nd and 23rd.
In London the sun set at 21.21 on the 19th of June, has done so since and will continue to do so until Ist July, when it will set at 21.20.
So perhaps RRSTDV8's SWMBO's complaint is one about scientific accuracy not pessimism.
The days are getting shorter but the nights are not drawing in yet.

I have to point out however that, by your own admission, you annoy her every year.
Next year you might try "well that is the longest day but at least the nights are not going to draw in for a while "
