Has anyone seen the instructions that come with a new lock from LR? (which even a thief would presumably need to sell the towbar on), I suspect they include the instructions needed.... So it might be better to refer any questions to that route rather than treating everyone as light-fingered???
As JWS1 has said to me, everyone was new/low post count at some time....Cheers

dont be so naieve.
everyone- go on name them
low post count, well thats stating the obvious.
do you not find it a bit concerning that someone signs up on the same day to ask for sensitive info who has no history on the site. he/she might be genuine but maybe stop and think before posting on certain issues
and no Im not being grumpy just logical

In which case answer to question is "Get yea off to local stealer" as they should be able to source spare keys having got numbers from hitch or purchase records.

Yea - is it Gaelic for ye, per chance?
And anyway, CW is making a perfectly good point. The induvidual concerned may well be above reproach but the the principle stands....(takes cover....).

What I want to make absolutely clear is that under no circumstances should new people feel they cannot ask questions due to fearing an "attack" from more established members.
We were all new members once upon a time, so please treat others how you were treated. Be welcoming and friendly, and if someone does appear to make a mistake then be polite and helpful - in this case a quick message explaining the sensitivity of the information and encouraging some discussion would have been more constructive.
There are too many sites out there which are hostile to new members and I am determined that DISCO3 will not become one of them.06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

I think there are areas of concerns, but how do people find out about this site? They type something in google (other search engines are available...) and up pops a post about tow bars and lost keys here. Therefore it's reasonable to expect someone to ask the question, even if it is their first post.
But I also think it's right not to just give the information out directly to all and sundry.

No I don't, they are overwhelmingly likely to be a genuine poster who probably doesn't realise the sensitive nature of the question - and they simply deserve treating as such. That doesn't mean giving all the details but it doesn't mean treating them as a convicted tea-leaf either.
Well said Martin.Cheers

most people are welcomed Martin. sometimes something doesnt seem right and doberman mode sets in. Id rather err on the side of caution. the other side of the coin also is lots of people get on here and want to be spoon fed which ticks off some of the more established members but your point is taken. just need to remember shoot first ask later. is that how it goes
