| Just fitted new tyres! @ 17,000 miles |
|
Well just had to fit 4 new tyres to D3 after 17,000 miles....could poss have got away with three and changed fourth in a couple thou miles but thought best to change all four together (after reading tyre posts here at D3)
Cost of each new tyre £170 !!!.... didnt think 17k miles for tyre wear was too good but its a heavy vehicle and I do a lot of towing so its just one of those things...
I did replace one tyre couple months ago due to puncture so now using that as spare and have 4 new ones on the road.....
Just thought id let you all know.....
Still enjoying every min driving my D3 and without doubt its the BEST car I have ever had in 31 years of driving

I did 7k on my pirelli's before changing them for my MTR's done another 17k on the MTR's and there's still at least 20k more on them. WIll be changing back over to the Pirelli's tomorrow (weather permitting!). 17k seems very low it! It's got a load of black bits on OK!!!

Hi Bodsy...I didnt think 17k on a set of tyres was very good..much less than on my D2 2000, had expected more but assumed was due to heavy towing?
I shouldhave looked around for a dfferent make i suppose. But had same ones fitted as were on her new.

Got part-worn MTR's after those, and they lasted 14K
Can't believe the grip from new ones, though Black Betty is no more Tunisia 1 2 3 Power by TorqTune

The most I had out of 19" inch Scorpions was 16k but now swapped tp Goodyear Wrangler HP after one rear tyre only achieved 12,800 miles. I have complained to dealer about tyre wear and reply was that because of vehicle's weight you'll only get 8 to 15k from them. I had a four wheel alignment as a 'goodwill' gesture and awaiting reply from LR Customer Services. I can't afford to spend £800 a year on tyres.
