Change of tyre size/spec and LR warranty

Some of you may be aware of my effort in trying to get my new D3 supplied on Cooper ST 245/70R17 (delivered 01/03/0Cool and the dealers threat of curtailing my warranty. I thought you may like to read Land Rovers customer care reply today. It makes interesting reading!!!!

"Having sought additional guidance from our technical support team, I am able to advise the following; We do not recommed that the vehicle be fitted with tyres that are not approved by Land Rover. The 245/70R17 Cooper ST you are suggesting are bigger tyres and as such may cause you to experience additional road noise, vibration, suspension concerns etc.

Please be aware that non-approved modifications do not entirely invalidate the manufacturers warranty on a vehicle. However, should you elect to fit the non-approved tyres to the vehicle, then only warranty claims that can be linked or associated with the non-approved fitment may be rejected under the terms and conditions of the warranty, in this instance anything related to the drive line of the vehicle will be taken into consideration."

Has anyone else had similar issues? How have you resolved them?
Regards - IAN

Reading this and looking at the latest incarnation (sorry abortion) of the D3... it makes you wonder if LR actually want people to use the hardware they've developed for it to venture further than the curb in Kensington High Street Thud

By not telling them Laughing

Get the car with standard tyres - (actually, ask if they can deliver with MTRs - since they us them on the G4s) and buy a cheap set of 17"wheels off ebay.

I agree - they should definitely be able to deliver on MTRs. Just keep the OEM set for whenever you have to visit the stealers Rolling Eyes It's a pain in the ass though.

Why don't you go with something that's the same size as the OEM tyres? I'm sure there are options...
