Considering a few reports of removable ones dropping out and others wobbling, the fixed towball has to be a 'no brainer'. I feel alot safer using the multi height fixed tow ball.

The removable one has no greater failure rate than any other removable ...so don't believe the hype ...if you only tow occasionally then they are convenient and the way to go ...if you tow every day then get a fixed 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Having a tow hitch installed reduces the departure angle of the car. If you plan to go off road then it is preferable to be able to remove the hitch.

I've got a fixed one - but currently not using the fixing braces, so it's just as removable as a removable one. 8)
