Slimer,
I am one who certainly appreciates abiding by rules. I have discussed with DG, proper protocol on this site. He directed me to contact Martin directly. I, on the same day, sent a PM to Martin which was unanswered for weeks. I followed up with DG and was told that Martin was on vacation. Lucky bloke to be vacationing for this long. I have still not received any response from Martin, therefore I have not "bumped" this thread as you can see. Neil was kind enough to express his satisfaction with this product and I simply thanked him. I am not intending to "pimp" my wares without following rules. I simply have had zero response from Martin. I apologize if this thread offends anyone. I hope to hear from Martin someday.

Dave,
What are the limits of your adjustable rods? How much can I raise the D3 by, can I get 50mm? Can I actually low the D3 for highway driving if I wanted to?

If you raise it by too much you will put the sensor out of range and cause 'bings and bongs'. You will also be putting a lot of strain on the CV joints.
Remember the D3 automatically goes into extended mode when you need it and you can go to super extended by putting your foot on the brake and pressing the up button for five seconds. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Thanks for the input CaverD3 . Advice is spot on. The only way to "lower" the vehicle at speed would be to swap out to factory spec rods - ie "normal" ride height. My set essentially puts you in full-time offroad height unless you change out rods. 2006 D3 Tonga Green

Well,
Put the D3 on the LRA geo/align and ( with 20mm of lift ) the
reading was within acceptable tolerance.
Don't ask me what the readings are. I'm happy not
to be charged ! I love these guys.
Was advised that 50mm of selection will definitely need
a rearrangement ..... which is no surprise really.
Can I feel it sits higher ? Yes, on negotiating roundabouts quickly.
( I'm fond of doing that ...... it's where the ZF looses the Japs. )
Haven't used the offroad height since Sunday ........ bliss !
No more tow equip groundouts in the gutter. Not helped by a
recent extra 15mm of Tarmac .... b loody council.
It's a real pain living up a very steep drive to a pole-lodge home, but
hey, there's a price to get views of 2 coves
Desert Traveller ; You want to drop the ride height ?
...... and have guys in RRSports looking down on you
on the Gold Coast Highway

There are four solutions so far. In order of cheapness:
1. Take LR OEM rods and shorten them yourself. You have to change them as needed by crawling under the back and reaching behind the front wheels to put them on and take them off.
2. Daveyb's adjustable rods (fully adjustable to various lengths) You still need to crawl underneath but you don't need to take them on and off. $420+
3. Remotely adjustable rod system, replaces the rods with mini actuators that shorten when button is pressed and return to standard when switched off. About $100 for the kit. More for air line Nitto fitting and line. Prototype testing ongoing. ( so far so good)
4. Metzkar system from Germany. Electrickery box gives you numerous height options from a switch on the dash. $2700 for kit.
I was kind of surprised when I came across this aftermarket airbag system the other day. Not heard of it before.

Says it gives you complete control, wonder if it's a viable 5th option for maintaining height, or if it might be a stronger than OEM replacement. Anyone familiar with it I'm not so good at giving advice...may I offer you a sarcastic comment instead?

The Air Command looks ideal for the Snoop Dog look out on the trail Not sure if it's a good solution though - am I right in thinking you bypass the individual airbag actuator signals? If so, I don't think it's a great solution for general use unless you want to lose self-levelling etc. (I may be way off here, but I haven't had time to look through their data sheets properly).
I was thinking of an alternative to the height sensor mod but haven't had chance to work on it yet to see if it would be financially viable (or even work at all...). Modifying the height sensor output is the most elegant solution, as it retains the standard control system as a complete entity i.e. you aren't bypassing any individual suspension airbag control signals; the system will still self-level etc. The rods are therefore an excellent mechanical solution and very well executed. caverD3's remote actuators also sound great, especially at $100 for a set (plus whatever air lines and fittings you need). There is an alternative electronic solution that I think might work but at -10deg C I'm not mucking around with it. Maybe this weekend when it's a bit warmer! Ain't it though
Haha, I think I agree BM (although I don't really know anything about it). I'm confused, aside from turning it into a D3 trickster hoopty, seems it'd cause alignment and tire wear issues, let alone computers! But then again, if the OEM suspension goes kaplooey, maybe be worth a look.
Question for folks that have these lifts and bigger tires. What tires do you run and how is the ride on tarmac? And where do you put your spare? Neil, with your mod is access height still available? I'm not so good at giving advice...may I offer you a sarcastic comment instead?

Tami,
All Factory Funtions remain unchanged.
The rods just alter the height by "fooling the sensor".
In my initial alteration I've got + 20mm on all
computer settings.
The D3 computer doesn't know it though .....
The rods can be quickly wound in or out as required.
If you're heading for a forest run , just shorten by 10mm
from original ie. extra 4 to 5 mm in my case, and I
don't have to do less than 25mph to get 2 inches
extra clear at normal setting. Good for Black Mountain ridge.
Neil.
