VIDEO Front AND Rear control arm bushes
I had the uprated ball joints installed by my dealer last month. I still have the same knock noise that you can feel in the frame of the D3 if you apply the brakes hard while traveling at very low speed. I decided to try and capture video to see if there was a problem with the ball joints, instead it looks to me that the rear bushings on the lower control arms are worn. Is this much movement normal? My '05 D3 HSE has 25,000 miles total.
Apologies for the upside down and angled videos, but the mount I'm using with the mino flip player won't allow for vertical placements every time......
videos are about 1 minute each
I made the videos with these:

Thanks. Yes, I've had numerous parts replaced on the front end - all with the pursuit of eliminating knock. I've had the uprated ball joints replaced (as mentioned), steering rack, other front bushes (supposedly). When the new uprated ball joints failed to totally remove the front knock when braking hard at low speed, I decided I needed to try and capture what was going on underneath to solve the issue myself. I'm sure the design of these bushes allows for some movement, but I'm looking to the forum members (er, experts) to chime in and confim prior to taking my D3 back to the dealer. Thanks.16 D4 Landmark

Great video but maybe you get less noise if you keep the wheels on the ground and not the roof
Clearly the bushes are gone. Show them to the dealer and try to get the money back from the previous "repairs". Or get a good discount on this repair.Roel

Yep - the rear bushes are completely f d.....
I think you could just go to the dealer and get them to look at your videos on Youtube - there should be no discussion after seeing them 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE AutoBuckingham Blue 2007 Golf GT DSG

The only discussion is probably they want proof that the Youtube video is really your car. Roel

Great clips it shows exactly what's going on.
It would be good to get a clip of a new vehicle in the same situation as a comparison.

Thanks for the comments. I'm going to email the youtube clips to my service advisor and wait for their response. It was pretty easy capturing the videos, I used the 2 front oval openings on the front bash plate (stock) to clamp into. From there its just a matter of positioning the recorder to capture the proper part or area. Using a set up like this could produce some great footage in off road adventures as well!16 D4 Landmark

LR are aware of the issue and have completely re-designed the loer controll arm to take different bushes and ball joints.“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€
