Sporadic noise when handbrake applied |
|
Hello all !
We have had a 05 TDV6 LR3 from brand new and think its an outstanding car in every way. My wife drives it most of the time and it ferries kids/animals and equipment around without fail.
But....in the last month, approx once a month my wife tells my it make a really loud noise when she applies the handbrake after a journey. I have never been present or heard this.
Does anyone have any ideas ? - should i be concerned or whip it down to the dealers ?

It's the well known EPB Screamer. I was a normal heterosexual chap, but in these new woke awakenings I now identify as a Wardrobe.

Thanks - I am not handy enough to want to take this on !
Is there any danger in just keeping an eye on it and trying to hear it myself or is there a real danger to not dealing with it ASAP

Danger is probably pushing it, however if it becomes jammed on then you may not be able to drive away so it could be a major inconvenience. It's all about how out of adjustment they are.
I can only recall one case on here of the brake shoes overheating, de-laminating and then locking the wheel whilst driving; so with the number of users on here I'd guess that's a very very low probability.
Perhaps try one of our excellent site sponsors for assistance, such as TheLargeOne if you like it serviced at a genuine dealers or someone like 10forcash who's an independent who'll come to you and bring more knowledge and experience with him than many dealers can manage and then charge you less for the privilege... My tip is to get out of the habit of using it.
Foot on brake or 'P' does instead.
I just apply mine now and again every month to ensure nothing gets seized up.
btw, apologies mi Lord for brevity of reply in first post.
Was a bit busy and shouldn't have been surfing the Disco3 site ...
....but beware it'll get you like that.
