| Water leaking in under passener glove box after car wash |
|
Hi
I have had my 06 discovery a few weeks and just took it in a automatic car wash (Gold) everything was fine until I arrived home and notice water leaking in directly under the passanger glove box, I was parked on a slight hill
I have had a look at the screen etc everything looks ok
Any suggestion where it might be getting in?

Sounds like the leak off pipes from the sun roof are blocked
Do a search for the fix,Im sure it can be done with an airline

Lets see, you do not have a sunroof by anychance?
If yes, blocked sunroofdrain is your problem. 05 TDV6 HSE AUTO 7seats, tonga green/alpaca, alpine roof, privacy glass, tow kit, wood kit, 20" stormers n summer, 18" in winter, fancy exhausts, rear seat ent., club fooked turbo!

 if you need assistance then drop me a PM, have the ideal way to clear the drain tubes in the rear of my D3, 2mtrs of net curtain plastic coated wire, extremely flexi, fractionly small diameter and pushes ALL the crud out down the tubes.

I have checked and cleared the sunroof leak off pipes and they were all clear. I have just returned from the car wash again and found the same problem. Having read the thread for the SR leak repair I noticed that CTS1975 had posted details of a leak in through the cabin pollen filter. I have confirmed that we are suffreing with a wet filter.
It is not clear where the water is getting in and the thread/post does not give details on a fix. Can anyone help?
Do LR sell LR welly boots?

So would I !!! I'm a detailer also and really hate the damage that swirl-o-matics do.
Besides which, I won't get in a bath which still has the previous occupant's dirt in it.....why subject my lovely D3 to the same treatment ?? 
But yes, as said, sunroof drain is the likely culprit. Mine had to be done as well.

Dear forum members
Please forgive us our sins as we did not know the pain and heart ache that the mention of a car wash would cause let alone the mention that we subjected our D3 to a further Gold wash battering 
Only one more wash to go and we get a free one and we get a free bars of Galaxy each time, thus allowing us to gorge our faces whilst torturing our D3 HSE
I will checkout the sun roof drain offs again, just to be sure.

Oh and we'll try to refrain from mentioning the CAR WASH again

There was also an issue of the outer A bar covers having a dodgey clip at the bottom which also let in water G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

My take on car washes is if you want to use them, it's your car, your money, your choice !!
If folk did not use them, then my business would not be as busy.
also as said by those above, sunroof drains most likely that cause

I've had a soaking wet car now for TWO years. It's not the sunroof tried that Had a post open through pollen filter being wet. I notice every other prob has a fix, could someone shed some advice on this please.

There was also an issue on earlier Bulkheads where a SEAM needed sealing again, maybe this could be it.
But after checking the sunroof drain tubes, I suspect its one of two things left, the screen is leaking, or the A post trim clips are knackered. They come with little gaskets on them as the clips go into holes that go straight into the cabin.
Clips are cheap as chips, maybe worth changing anyway and something else to tick off the list

I did have a new windscreen a few years back! however when I look into the air intake of the trim that goes over the windscreen (held in with press studs and the windscreen wiper) I can see straight into the air intake manifold. Should this manifold box have a flap over it at all, as all logic would suggest that the water is going to go through the holes and into the air manifold box and into the pollen filter. Could the idiot who did the windscreen b**lsed something up?
Can post a pic if I can find the lead for my phone to download it!
Can't stand another winter with frost on the inside of the windows!!!!!!!

I would suggest it is not the sunroof, as its showing in the wrong place. My sunroof leaked when the tray overflowed because the drains were blocked. This resulted in water appearing around the interior courtesy light, and front edge of the headlining.
The only other thing I can think of is that the left hand sunroof drain is not routed correctly and is draining into the car. You could try the test I posted in the Sunroof drain clearance thread, and carefully pour some water into the sunroof tray, if it comes out of the rear of the front wheel arch, then its not your sunroof. If it does not drain, or drains into the car, then you have confirmed the problem.
Could I also suggest you remove the glove boxes to gain access, and I'm afraid to say, go and endure another Gold Wash and see if you can see any evidence of the water and where it is coming from.
At least you will get another bar of chocolate
