Alpine Ipod touch screen solution |
|
Anyone gone down this road:-
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RANGE-ROVER-SPORT-DI...286.c0.m14
I saw a thread a while ago relating to Cheltenham car Audio (I think), but there was only a few posts on it and no real info, looked at Alpine website and it seems it would work with their module and a '3rd party module' to integrate with the touch screen.
I know a good independant ICE shop in Blackpool I've used on and off for years so will have a chat with them as it's not loose change but looks like a great solution, just wondered if anyone has shelled out already?
Bit annoyed you can no longer get the LR one, don't care about the charging issues of the new iphone as it's a 32gb touch I want to link up! Currently running it via the AUX port and it's OK (but the volume is obviously needing to be cranked up which mean traffic bint scares the crap out of me when she barks an order ). It's a pain when you want to skip a track too.
This looks a perfect solution but at that price....... Errr, ummm, maybe...oh bo**ocks, just do it !

You using the headphone socket to Aux then? If you need more volume then you need line out to the Aux. Ordered myself a griffin autopilot off Amazon to do that. Not arrived yet so can't comment on how good it is. Looks a nice solution but £600 compared to £26 is a no brainer for me!

This lead from apple costs £35...
http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MB129ZA/...TA4MjUwMzk
You plug the USB into a cig-lighter 5V charger and the red and white phono's through an adaptor into the AUX input. All tucked out of the way behind the rear cup-holders/centre armrest. The dock connecter is long enough so you can position your iPhone/Touch anywhere on the dash... Full line level output (volume controlled by disco) and power to charge.

If you go with the Apple AV solution check out fleabay as there are many pattern versions of this lead which are just as good but a fraction of the price. Got mine from a US seller for £4.50 delivered

Yep, 'wired' in via headphone socket at the moment and should in the front cubby box. It was a 'temporary' plan while waiting for the Landrover interface to re-appear
Like you say, nice solution but £600 is pushing it a bit against the line out solutions, a bracket and the use of a finger to jump tracks etc......will defer decision 'til end of quarter bonus, lol, though wifey did just ask me what I wanted for my Birthday next month Errr, ummm, maybe...oh bo**ocks, just do it !

To navigate round that screen looked a pain when I investigated these a while back. You use the on screen number pad as the remote control, and i got the impression that moving round a long list of artists could be slow. I don't know that for sure though. All the video demos you see show them moving just one or two tracks down a list rather than big sections.
I think I would be dissapointed, but I think someone else here has one, so they would be better placed to anwser. I see if I can find a link. TDV6 HSE Lux (2014MY)

Yep, that's the thread I originally saw, unfortunately (as you point out) the info is limited. May go down the composite cable route, prob do a bit more digging see if there's anything else about......don't hold your breath tho.... Errr, ummm, maybe...oh bo**ocks, just do it !

Update: The Griffin is the dog's doodahs. Charges the itouch plus has play/pause and skip forwards and backwards buttons on the cigarette plug. The line out works great too.

Will keep that in mind as backup plan then if the LR kits turn out not to be available again To be honest the sound quality from the Ipod headphone socket into the AUX using a decent quality gold 3.5mm cable is fine, it's just the volume heights you need and not being able to skip tracks that's a pain.... Errr, ummm, maybe...oh bo**ocks, just do it !

I've been in constant contact with Nick with a view to ordering one when he got the stock in, however it didn't arrive today as planned Hoping this is a distribution glich from supplier to Nick rather than something more catastrophic Errr, ummm, maybe...oh bo**ocks, just do it !
