Hole in FBH exhaust
Iv been out playing with the FBH . Opened the bonnet and rang the FBH ..started fine. After a few mins i noticed a lot of smoke near the FBH . Fist off thought it was just comming up from below as its very cold and frosty .
I then noticed it was comming from the top of the exhaust . Put my had over the end of exhaust and sure enough it bellows out of the hole at the top .
So ..was this hole made on purpose because its a G4 and if the exhaust ever got blocked it would still work ? Is it a defect ..although it dosent look like its rusted through .
If any one is under there bonnet any time soon could you have a look and see if you have the same ( especially G4 owners ...Ian ..Andy )

Just nipped out, in the cold and the conclusion is:
Standard HSE exhaust has a hole like yours but at both ends or mine has.
Looks purposeful as opposed to rusted. Hope that helps Member of the carrot crank club

Hi wiggs,
Not a G4 as you know but mine has a hole at each end like Frapp say's, so don't be welding it up

Hmmmm, noticed a puff of smoke from mine when under the bonnet during lunchtime; I'll see if mine has such a hole. I assume it's to prevent cold water being sucked up the pipe during wading as it cools and condenses the combustion steam to a vacuum?Dr. Ian Malcolm:
