Yes you would still need gvif to input another av source and to watch on sat nav screen and or display a reversing camera

Hi Ian,

I intend to install the GVIF unit & reversing camera, but I have a query over the camera selection.....

I propose to install the camera internally on the underside of the tailgate at the top of the rear window, in a similar location to that shown......

The camera I am looking for would be ....

CCD - (I believe better quality than CMOS)
Colour
Capable of being mounted with the support bracket at the top
Have video / power cables capable of being threaded through the corrugated rubber tubing at the top of the tail gate
Have relativly good 'night vision' without the use of LEDs
And (obviously) full integration with the GVIf module 'out of the box'

I would be feeding the camera from an ignition fed 12v supply as I intend to be able to view the picture on AV1 as a rear view mirror

Are there any of of your cameras that fit the bill Question

Cheers Thumbs Up

Ordered GVIF interface unit on Tuesday at 13.30
Unit arrived at work on Wednesday at 11.30
Thanks to Hannah at HIDS4U Bow down

a couple of things though..........

The "d3gvif" discount code didn't work on line and when ordered over the phone the price came down to £255 (not £250) Sad Question

Unit is a v6.2 but no manual in the box - anyone know if is it available on line Question

Glad Hannah is doing a god job will let her know

I will check the code - could have expired

Also I have almost completed a manual - will post on the forum in my gallery when its done

We have had a few different types of cameras in from Sony CCD, and two different CMOS ones. The best ones i have tested, and yes i tried them all, are the CMOS ones. One of these has 170 degree angle and on my sport I can even see the corners of the bumpers. I added some more images on the site:

http://www.hids4u.co.uk/reversing-camera-f...der-2.html

The camera on the sport had the guide lines in the camera - the next batch wont have these and I will start offering them with and without these lines.

You will all be shocked to know that the Sony CCD was by far the worst quality - and the colours are so grainy its shocking.

This has got to be the best upgrade i have done to the D3 and now RRS. The 170 degree camera when connected to Av1 and used as a rear view mirror eliminates blind spots as you can see the cars over taking you all the time. I have ordered some front number plate surroungs with CMOS and Sony CCD cameras - none mirrored image so i can connect a camera up to the front Smile Will post pics when i finally get them could be 2-3 weeks

Regards

Ian
