VIN Range 5A311326 to 6A357852
sounds like yet another mess by landrover ...ala preheaters.
why would one DS3 be any different to another regarding the required jack.... either scissor ones are fit for purpose or not... surely the cars weigh the same? 2004 TDV6 HSE Auto Zambezi Silver

no, the coil sprung versions should have a hydraulic bottle jack, presumably due to the range of lift required, nothing to do with the load or the quality (or otherwise) of the scissor jack

Don't forget the amount of coilers sold to date doesn't compare with air by a big long shot.
The jacks are fit for prupose, meaning they do the job intended on the provision that all instructions are followed......

Coil sprung models actually weigh about 300kg less than air sprung ones in standard form. Doesn't explain why they get a bottle jack and air-sprung ones get a crap jack though
I'll stick to me air-jack when I'm out and about and a trolley jack when I'm at home The End

Thanks for all your replies.
My first thoughts was that the car probably fell off the jack as the road probably wasn't level. However, my mate says this isn't the case and the jack buckled under the weight and collapsed. Matt

or did it buckle as the vehicle moved once the wheel was lifted? your mate did chock the wheels, didn't he?

I've used the LR jack myself to take off all four wheels when I put my 17" alloys on and then again to put the 19" back on after the off-roading weekend. It worked fine, but then it took ages and didn't seem very safe.
I've now got a new trolley jack, so next time it will be quicker and easier. I'm also going to weld a new top to the trolley jack so it fits the D3 jacking points. Matt

Air Jacks are the way to go, if I have a puncture off road there is no way the scissor jack will cut it. In off-road situations the jack may not be able to be used as per instructions. LR market and sell the air suspension models for off-road use so the jack should be suitable for those conditions. Dico 11 had a bottle jack and it worked well.
Beware there is a problem with air jacks with the tdv6 as it has twin exhausts with a cross-over pipe, which means that you have to block the other exhaust. I used a 40mm test plug and some rubber matting, works fine. How did slimer and others deal with this issue? “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

My airjack came with a blocking cone for the second pipe, must admit it makes it a two man job really to hold both on but you could do it on your own at a stretch The End
