Ok I know I've posted lots on these in recent months, but I still haven't bought one. I was going to go for a T Max one, but just as I was about to buy one I found out that they only run straight off the battery, not from a cigarette lighter socket; I can't be fagged with taking the car apart to do this. I believe the current is too high to use the lighter socket.
What products do you use and how quick are they? I've looked at truck air, but there is no mention of how it connects. All advise of what to choose and avoid is greatly recieved! DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

I've got a catalogue from Därr Expeditionsservice at home with a good compressor comparison table in it, it's in German but the table is understandable I'll scan it in later...

The Viair looks the same as the Tmax and is direct battery connection only. DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

There's a ViAir one that is rated @ 16A, which is on the limit for the accessory socket, i'll see if I can find a model number

Sorry, bad eyes.... the 100 is rated @18A
The 90p is rated 1.08 CFM with a current draw of 19A @40psi
The 70p is rated 0.76 CFM with a current draw of 14A @ 40psi
It just depends on what you want to inflate and how quickly

The one I was looking at is this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/T-max-Portable-Compr...dZViewItem which seems to be more powerful than the ones you have mentioned (if I am reading it right!) But is this overkill? To buy a standard one is going to cost iro £20-30 so for a bit more I can have one that hopefully last, but I'm not sure about hooking up to the battery directly (I've never even looked at it ) DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

The figures are a bit misleading, the 2.5 CFM is the same as the ViAir 400p which quotes 2.54 CFM @ 0 psi..... but 1.84 CFM @ 40psi
There's lots of other measures but overall it's a good bit of kit (they both are) however, it draws 24Amps @ 40psi
Hooking up to the battery is easy, bonnet open and plastic cover off - no tools required (although you may need a footstool )

would there be room to fit one of these or similar underbonnet perhaps where the pre heater would've been. (Aussie spec doesn't have it)

Pelyma, I appreciate that this is a serious piece of kit and as such much better value etc. than the £20-£30 plug in inflators from Halfords etc. I'm just curious as to why you want to lug this about when a good pressure guage & a small inflator should do the job for occasional use?
Is it that these small inflators are just c**p, I've never used one. Always use a twin barreled foot pump & quality gauge but obviously a foot pump is useless in many off-road situations.
