Originally the FBH in the D3 is unfortunately only an auxillary heater, which over time causes accumulation of diesel deposits, sludge and soot due to incomplete combustion. Therefore, a Webasto that works as a pre-heater will last longer than a Webasto that functions only as an auxillary heater. We all want a pre-heater, and to do this you need to connect a controller able to trigger the start sequence independent of the automatic triggering system of the vehicle. It will improve the reliability and durability of your Webasto dramatically.Land Rover - It Hurts So Good

How do you prime it
You need an external device connected to the FBH via the pin2 connection. e.g. B.A.S. intelligent FBH controller like I have. As far as I know this wonderbox is the one and only FBH remote controller on the market that is able to trigger the feeding pump and prime the FBH.
Quite true, but also if you have an MSV you can also prime the FBH and run the test routine.

Obviously living in a village in the mountains of Scotland it's too warm for mine to have fired up yet Actually amazingly thats 'almost' true, with the exception of a day or so it's been unseasonally warm and on the odd one or two days it was pretty cool I never fired the Disco up. The warm bit scares me, it's usually the precursor of doom up here

Mine fired up today, don't know what Flack did, as it hadn't before he had a look last weekend and he said there weren't any codes stored, but this morning I had that reassuring cloud of smoke Joined the BMWX5 45e group

Sorted!
TFC tested it yesterday and it works perfectly, still not sure about the remote start unit, not sure I can justify over £200, I guess its a nice to have not a need to have? Its all in the grip of the Tyre Fitters hand!

Well it was minus 2 last night so I jumped into the disco and fired it up hoping to see the sweet smoke from beneath and nada It appears that this year it has failed to fire up, guess it's time to pop by the garage and get them to reset and fire it.

fired mine up with the software today as it didn't fire this morning at 5 deg.
No faults registered or locks. Cleared all locks etc just in case, but it still won't fire from the car
Are there any other things that would stop it firing apart from a lock out ??
Thanks
Aaron

well zero degrees outside so popped out to start her up and see. TBH having only had the car a week and reading all the issues on here I wasn't holding out much hope....... good news is the FBH started straight off!! Not a great deal of smoke which I guess is good (doesn't smoke all the time does it?) and boy that pipe gets hot damn quick!
