transfer box oil leak
Hi all
Noticed a trace of oil on drive today. After closer inspection found oil around seal to front end of the transfer box.
Question is can this be repiared easily in situ or does the box have to be removed for repair ?
Or worse still would it require a new box. Please help before i have to resort to the stealers.

Had my front output seal replaced by an Indy - t/fer box has to be removed and split to do the job. About a days labour.Previously:

Ritch make sure stealer will understand that you know that according to workshop manual it takes up to 4H (the whole job) and do not let them charge you for more than 3.5h unless you close to Guava or Berkshire Landrover....
3.5 hours to drain, disconnect, drop, split, replace seal, re-assemble, re-fit, re-connect, re-fill, road test
Mine was in for 3 days all told! (The indy had to borrow a tool to insert the new seal though)Previously:

It took the stealer i took it too 4.05h the whole thing
Had mine done under warranty. Box out, replaced seal from the inside and rebuild and refit.
They actually replaced all the seals whilst they were at it. Not sure whether that was cos they were being nice, or they cocked something up in the process.
Took em 2 days or was it 3 - but only due to incorrect seals sent or something. Mind you if they say a day, I usually bank on it being 2 days and if its less its a bonus Mark.
