Discovery3 Electronics problem? |
|
Does anyone recognize these faults. All sorts of alarm lights on the dashboard plus alarm messages HDC FAULT, HAND BRAKE FAULT, SUSPENSION LOWERED, SPECIAL PROGRAMS NOT AVAILABLE and lots more. All of these when the day before everything worked fine. It then goes into limp home mode. If I start the car from cold all the above alarms show, if I wait a few minutes for the car to warm up and then switch off, take key out and then insert key again and start the car, very often all the faults clear and it operates correctly. Any ideas? Plugging in the diagnostics pod shows dozens of faults 90% say communication faults, the remaining 10% faults as above.
When the car has all the alarm lights showing apart from the limp home mode the only thing that doesn't appear to work correctly is the ride height control, if I attempt to use it the up and down lights flash and the ride height lights usually go out. Usually when I start the car from cold however the car rises to the normal travel height on its own but if I try to lower the height the same happens i.e. the lights flash and go out.

hi
i had a lot of the same errors and it was diagnosed as being
the wrong type of brake bulb that was installed after the
brake lights stopped working

I get something similar although npt the park brake fault, the dealer said it was the brajke lamp switch andf it does only happen when I hit the breaks. it happens very infrequently and I do need new pads, which I'm hoping will solve the problem.
Similar to jm, the dealer originally said it was a fault brake bulb, then the brajke lamp switch
Hope it helps
Cheers
Phil

We've just took the brake bulb out that we've recently had problems with being faulty, and all error lights and warnings have gone!! Can't believe something minor like that caused so many errors!!
We have had in in 2 land rover garages, one garage said it was something to do with the exhaust gas, and another said the abs module + more

It's worth spending a couple of pence extra and buying the genuine LR bulbs, cheaper ones can short when they fail which the D3 doesn't like - as you've discovered The End

Just incase you didn't know the lower tail light bulbs are the same twin elliment bulbs as the brake light bulbs.
I recently had a brake light go and just replaced it with the one from the lower tail light section.

Problem seems back now, it was fine when we took the bulb out all warning lights went off so was no longer in limp home mode..
But leaving it over night now everything is back on, strange thought since that was the first time all the warning lights had gone off!
