2009 Discovery 3 TDV6 GS Manual Stornoway GreyDiscovery 3
Retro fit an AUX input to Discovery 3 GS

I have been searching for a few days to see if there is a way to fit an aux input to the stereo system on the discovery 3 GS model. I have seen the treads about the plug located in the passenger footwell. I looked at the cable in my LD3 and the blue red and black cables are not there. I then looked at the back of the head unit hoping to find them there but again no luck. Does any body else have any ideas?? The vehicle is a 09 plate.

I figured out how to do it. On the rear of the head unit there are two connector blocks, the 12 pin connector block (C2115) only has one black cable in it (pin 12). All you need to do is using a 3.5mm stereo lead, cut off one end of the lead and connect the red, white and screen as follows;

Pin 6 = Aux Screen
Pin 7 = Right Aux
Pin 8 = Left Aux

Run the cable behind the head unit to any location in your car. Plug your mp3 player select aux on the stereo and it works!!

This worked for me, but I take no responibilty if you attempt it and it goes wrong.

thank you. i am nearly there. in my 12 pin there are 4 cables already in. Pin 6, 7 , 8 and 12. so I guess it is best to cut 6, 7 and 8 and connect them to my Aux lead. My Aux Lead however seems to have 4 cables. 1 red and 1 white inside an inner layer of cable plastic and either side of the red and white plastic layers are wires in between the outer plastic and the inner white or red plastic. What do I connect to what?

Thanks

If you have wires in 6,7,8 then they must go somewere ....did u check in the passenger footwell ?

Your wires ...

Red and White will be left / right .... The wires between will be the ground

ok. thank you. I have it now. For anyone else doing this with a simple double cable, both grounds have to be conected to each other and go to either the left or right connection but only to one of them to get the right volume and best sound connection. Thank you to Wiggs for your help....
