Thanks for viewing the photos. I'm Andy and I'm new as a Disco 3 (and Land Rover as a brand) owner, and I thought I should present my D3 and experiences so far after about 40 days of ownership and 4000km / 2500 miles driven.
It's a TDV6 HSE with just about every extra there is (was marketed as HSE Premium Pack over here), and has been rebuildt as a van. Registered first time in Dec 2008 and was just shy of 64 000km / 40 000 miles when I bought it, just shy of £ 45 000. I do alot of photography and hiking trips so this car seemed like the perfect companion and I planned (and still do) to keep it for a long time.
So far I'd like to sum up my time with the car and the whole "experience" as follows:
Pros
- In my opinion the best looking car in today's market, perhaps only beaten by the black D4.
- Easy to drive, even for a newbie SUV/4x4 driver as myself.
- Superb for my use, I can sleep in the back with an inflatable mattress for a week without any discomfort or length issues.
- Can access remote locations I only just dreamt of before.
- Superb on snow, even on summer tyres. A must for me, living in Norway.
- I feel safe in it.
Cons
- Soft suspension seemed to evoke a sense of sea-sickness for some of the passengers on some roads. I've felt it too.
- Fuel consumption. I didn't expect much but I haven't managed to get it under approx. 25 mpg so far, even on long hauls driving like I had miss Daisy as a passenger.
- Both tailgate lights have fallen out for no apparent reason.
- Don't trust the car. I've had two occasions of ESF faults and car going into limp mode, both on 7-8 degree decents on tarmac. On one occasions I got scared (my first error message ever in the Disco) and I aborted my trip several hundred miles into it cause I didn't trust the car to finish it. I've also had the DPF error message but that was easily resolved after checking the manual.
- Expensive service. I had a simple oil service done at the dealer, cost me £675 - that's insane. I fear the A or B service coming up in a few months. In order to keep the car tip top shape and to keep the second hand value as high as possible I feel I have to take it to a certified LR dealer, but it's gonna cost me.
- Disappointing stereo for such an expensive car.
Except a few glitches and disappointments (which I probably should have expected anyway) I am extremely pleased with the car, the way it performs, the feeling it gives me as an owner and driver, and the opportunities it opens up. I'm in love - and you guys at www.disco3.co.uk are to blame

I thought that as well, thought it might be rude to ask whether it was photoshop'd, I recon that's got to be the front cover, plenty of space for the wording and logo - just need to get a model release form signed
BTW, welcome to the "been there, seen it, done it " forum for D3 owners

That's as a van - I have to drive it around with funny looking green badges so everyone can see I was too poor to buy a 5 or 7 seater. Add atleast £13-15k to buy a 5 seater. The taxation of these cars is insane over here.

It's just the strange weather and lighting conditions, the area behind me was bright sky so the car ended up looking very bright and stands out from the background - I haven't used a photo editor for anything except removing the license plate number

Had the same experience with our car, had to limp home from Kristiansand to Oslo after reading the faultcodes it was an easy fix. One of the height level sensors was broken Bernt-Inge
