Yeh but does Coachman want a Boxster in exchange???
I see the guys prediciment if he needs to buy through a dealer to get a trade in...
I bought mine a couple of years ago and went through main dealership for that reason aswell as I needed rid of other car. At the time there were several really nice private sales but struggled to flog the old car...

Thanks everyone - I'll keep looking. As nice as coachmans is I'm particularly keen to get one with light colour leather as that is a common theme with all my cars. Ideally want lower mileage too for warranty purposes.

I'm starting to think about maybe getting an auto though (despite the appeal of better mpg from a manual) as it would give my bad back an easier time and they seem to be very highly regarded. I definitely won't limit my search based on gearbox type anyway.

I'll give my a fresh service, readvertise it (prices are climbing and mine is in excellent condition and history with low miles and looking better value all the time). I'll sit tight for the right D3 to pop up in my searches and keep swotting up on my D3 knowledge with all the useful posts on here!

I bought a manual due to the potentially better mpg but now on reflection thing I should have gone for auto. Have friends with autos and the difference is negligable.... Next one will be auto.....

Right - I did some more digging into the cars history

Guy Salmon Sheffield History to 60K (Reg plate was D3 AFK)
Subsequent 2 services done by: Peter Davies Engineering & RWB Motors (Warrington). (Reg plate at this time was YP54 CZV and subsequently C19 MKE)

Big Bill in December was for the following MOT failures which have now been rectified:

Reason(s) for refusal to issue Certificate

Parking brake efficiency below requirements (3.7.B.1b)

Nearside Stop lamp not working (1.2.1b)

Offside Stop lamp not working (1.2.1b)

Rear Brake pad(s) less than 1.5 mm thick (3.5.1g)

Nearside Rear Anti-roll bar linkage insecure (2.4.G.1)

Nearside Rear Upper front bush Suspension arm has excessive play in a pin/bush (2.4.G.2)

Nearside Rear Upper rear bush Suspension arm has excessive play in a pin/bush (2.4.G.2)

Nearside Rear Upper hub attachment Suspension arm has excessive play in a pin/bush (2.4.G.2)

Nearside Rear hub enb Tie bar/rod has excessive play in a pin/bush (2.4.G.2)

Items still under advisory are:

Offside Front Track rod end ball joint has slight play (2.2.B.1f)

Offside front inner tierod end worn at steeringrack

Had a long chat with the dealer this morning about my concerns regarding the car. He was very straight and wasn't trying to foist the vehicle on me at all but pointed out that the car had had a lot of work done on it. They have replaced the rear loom and would do the full belt change service included for the asking price + brake fluid change. It is also having 3 or 4 more parts replaced this week and will be reprogrammed properly following the loom replacement (They only finished fitting the loom the day before I viewed it).

He has said they will look out for another vehicle for me if I particularly want an auto but just said to keep this one in mind as a fallback because he regard's it as a 'good one' which has had a lot of the big ticket items looked at (to be fair I've seen a lot of D3's go through their hands over the last 6 months).

Anybody want to change their opinion? I'm not rushing into it but thought he made some fair points.

All standard stuff on that list apart from the loom, wonder if suspension wiring and needs calibrated. Had that done on mine & whilst was a nightmare for the guy doing it (wires kept braking as were Censored poor), it got sorted.

Right - second time lucky? Change of colour and better spec

I've got an appointment to see this one tomorrow.

http://www.elitecarsuk.co.uk/land-rover-di...re-1962124

Described as immaculate (looks very good in the photo's as well) and has full service history with envelope's full of associated bills/paperwork. Early service history is Land Rover main dealer and the remainder is with John Dennis 4x4 specialist of Aylesbury (who will actually be my nearest specialist I think). Anyone used them?

It's just had a schedule 1 (?) service and the alternator replaced but hasn't had the cambelts done yet. That's just a point for negotiation on price for me though.

Wife's not overly keen on Tonga Green but I think it looks very nice with Alpaca leather and more importantly its an auto.

Thoughts?

Looks like a really nice car. Love the colour and equipment and as you say it's an auto. Good move.
Only word of caution is its at that mileage that is the repair phase with regards suspension etc so worth having a look at the bills and what's been done recently.
Obviously a good old 'hard' test drive should be done aswell which might show up some clunks.... Good luck.

Any advice on whats 'likely' to need replacing if its not already been done?

I'm thinking:
Wishbones and bushes
Compressor?

Anything else specific thats a common wear item?

Trying not to let my head rule my heart on this. Can't wait to get into a Disco! Smile

Items as you have listed. Worth checking condition of tyres as 4 at a time can be a big one of hit to the monthly car budget. As I said previously just be prepared for the odd decent bill for the odd surprise... Otherwise go for it and enjoy.....
