I thought they switched themselves off about 30mins after the ignition is turned off.

Fitted mine at the weekend, left the car on charge overnight and the fridge was still running in the morning, so I would take from this that they don't turn off automatically

They do turn off but it depends on the battery voltage.
From the manual
Quote:If the indicator does not illuminate when the
cool box is switched on, or it goes out while the
cool box is operating, this means that the
battery voltage is low and the cool box has
switched itself off. This will only happen when
the engine is not running.

The D4 fridge in the group buy DOES NOT turn itself off. I think the more expensive D3 version has a voltage sensor in it that does turn it off. Hence the price. The D4 is ign power sourced so turns off with the keys removed.
If you fit a D4 fridge into a D3, it does fit perfectly, it works perfectly but it doesn't turn itself off.
Hence you need a jump start from a mate when you are camped in the New Forest, doesn't help when TJ101 is sat near by with a smug grin on his face  HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE
