'Off Road' mode on Info Screen |
|
Being the owner of a lowly SE model, I don't have the 4wd info on the Sat Nav Screen. Is this a DVD driven option ... i.e Can I update my SE by installing the appropriate DVD? I was a normal heterosexual chap, but in these new woke awakenings I now identify as a Wardrobe.

npe, don't believe you can.
And from what I heat its a bit of bling and of nit much real use once you've gotten bored of it.
I partly say that cause I have an even lowlier 'S' spec with not even the sat nav

all the DVD's are the same, there's a few bits of wiring loom and an engineering code to unlock the screen.... DON'T bother looking for the code 'cos you need IDS to modify the CCF and the codes change regularly. LR engineering generate the codes and will not release for speccing up beyond build level options

Thanks Old Timer an New Boy [re, other thread]. At least I now know it's not an option, apart from buying an HSE... I'll just forget it ..think this thread is dead now...Simon, please delete!!! I was a normal heterosexual chap, but in these new woke awakenings I now identify as a Wardrobe.

eh ? I cannot delete threads... Slimer is the Simon that can, you can have the off road features as an option on any D3 with sat nav not just an HSE and I wouldn't call TFC and old timer
And why delete the thread ? will be useful for others not as fortunate as us.

I could delete it if I wanted to
But the 4x4 screen has its uses. When you cease forward motion, it tells you you are stuck!! by letting you know which wheels are spinning, it also tells you when you have no more suspension travel left, and when the diffs lock. Not much use but entertaining.
The best and most useful bit is the steering angle display, which will let you know if you are driving down a pair of ruts with the steering to one side, which is recipe for ripping the side out of a tyre.

mmm and you get this for free in the Message Centre too
Still would like the Sat Nav and 4x4 Info as it is rather cool never the less.

And please, leave Martin out of it. He's far too young to be thought of like that

I noticed the other day that when i have the LR3 in low range with the TR on i get a graphic on the dashboard lcd showing front wheel angle and whether the centre diff is locked or not.
Anyone else noticed this? I cant remember seeing anything about this in the manual. It surprised me, i had been using the 4x4 info screen when i was in the snow here in Calgary. I only noticed the graphics on the dash when i was playing around with low range. '10 LR4 Nara Bronze V8 HSE + everything

The steering wheel direction has always been present in the Message Centre when in any of the TR modes are selected. Only appears when the wheel are off centre by some way and then goes away when all is cool.
Not seen the diff lock display though. Maybe its if you have the rear fitted or if you have later than '04 MY build.

I only see the wheel indicator when i have TR and low range together. The diff lock indicator is shown as a diff symbol between the wheels and flashes when it is locked. I dont have the rear diff, so it only shows the centre diff. '10 LR4 Nara Bronze V8 HSE + everything

interesting... sure this must be a new feature - or I have missed it completely as having too much fun driving, and yes I think the indicator is only in low range.
