I am aware of he difference, but many on here keep pointing out that these land rovers don't have dpf's. I knew mine did but I was not aware that only euro 4 spec engines have the dpf fitted.
I have to say I am somewhat worried about sticking 2stroke oil in my tank.
I have put some in buti ended up putting semi synth jc spec oil in.
I couldn't get mineral jc locally. so went for the semi,
I will give it a couple of tanks to see if any benefits, if I find mineral jc I will buy it.
I read the other forum posting with relish, but as always there were two camps of which I could see merits from both sides.
I normally use a diesel additive to help lube the pump.
Hi bambi
yes I know a lot has been written pro and contra 2sO. You are perfectly ok with semi-synthetic 2sO in Jaso-FC grade. If you check on the german forums, this is mirrored there.
Interestingly most of the indies here in SA which contribute on the 4X4community forum recommend the addition of 2sO to the diesel.
interesting point on the D3, those vehicles that run on the 2sO "diet" never have problems with sticky VVT mechanisms or burnt out stepper motors, which occur as a result of seized VVT mechanisms due to excessive soot build up.
My 300Tdi is now on 304'000km without sump compression and doesn't use oil. D3 currently on 181'000km purring like a kitten Both naturally are pampered with the 2sO Muti. EX AFRICA SEMPER ALIQUID NOVI

Bambi, I have euro4 with no PDF, ask Charles from Luxembourg he has the same D3 as mine accept auto box and dreaded dpf! In Feb this year he drove from Lux to a meet in Wales and could not drive back because the dpf needed cleaning first( left meet on tow truck to local LR dealer who cleaned it with jetwas )!!! the DPF is an additional unit after the cat and is visible after th gearbox croxmeber, rear diff side, ii I remember correctly. ASDa can deliver castrol mineral FC 2so to your door at the best price(link mentioned earlier) A few mods... and keeping it all running...Faultmate MSV2

D4jww, I can get the stuff from Asda delivered but by the time I have paid postage the semi synth stuff is no more expensive.
That's what I love about landys they are all individual.
But if you are not sure wether you have a dpf or not, if you treat the vehicle as having one and use jc then you are less likely to have problems than if you have a dpf and use jb
Pigeon I have no idea if it don't have dpf it will have a cat,

Hi pigeon
no it has not, as it is not a CRD motor. You can use Jaso-FB in that one, but as I mentioned before, the Jaso-FC has better carbon reducing properties. EX AFRICA SEMPER ALIQUID NOVI

Still not sure if i have a dpf or not but due a service soon so i'll find out then but i was wondering when you factor in the price of the oil, would it be better to use the premium diesel sold at the pumps. Do these have the same benifits as adding 2 stroke or redx ect?

Hi Gary
you would know if you have one, due to the regeneration cycles. Thse happen with european diesel approx. every 600-700km and with 2sO added from 1350km upwards to about 1800km, all naturally also dependant on driving style.
AFAS using 2sO in the diesel is concerned, those who have had the opportunity to have examined an open engine (head off), that has been running with 2sO added for at least 50'000km, all have become (or are) ardent followers of adding 2sO to diesel. It is because of the squeeky clean bores without any carbon ridge and the deposit free piston crown and valves.
This is what a Td5 piston looks like with 200'000km on, engine been pampered with 2sO! (picture courtesy of Landyluvver from SA-4x4community forum).

I don't know how far away you are from an ASDA store, but I ordered it on-line and picked it up from my local store FOC.
