Hi branchespark, I am pleased that you should have a resolution to the issue, it looks like you have an on the ball main dealer. The problem for the rest of us will be getting each main dealer to have a faster system to compare it with and agree to replace it. There are quite a few owners saying the same thing about the MY12 system, it would be a lot easier if LR reported the general problem in a Tech Bulletin. But I guess speed of operation can be subjective.. I am not going to hold my breath on this for an easy fix..

Dave,
Just to be clear - I wrote to LR directly and they have instructed the main dealer to sort it out - at whatever cost. When the issue is resolved, I will post an update.

Thanks Sam, when its resolved the outcome woud be useful to use as an example. Mine has already been into to the main dealer to have the software sorted as it would not display any POI. This was fixed well by the dealer, but at that time they had no answer to its slowness, just to acknowledge that they could be slow.

Sam, you say some videos were taken, do you have them available?
Everyone talks about it being slow but is there some way of quntifying it? Once you push the buttons for each number or letter I get a delay of two or 3 seconds before the next ones come up, does this fall into the slow category, I'm assuming it does?

Did a bit of playing about with it this morning......the touchscreen response is almost instantaneous to the touch,as is audible feedback and visual confirmation, which suggests to me it's not the touchscreen that is the problem......the F-type has the same screen and there is no reported delay in those
It shouldn't take much working out.....if there is a much quicker response in the my2011 and my2013 models and the screens are the same, then what else is different in the my2012 ?.....that's you're culprit.....unless there was a bad batch of touchscreens installed . "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

My D4 2012 was in the local dealer today to have the 'cabin heater recall' sorted out. Its already been in a month or so ago for the hesitation issue. Anyway, when I picked it up tonight, I noticed the time on the dash and screen was set to 12hr mode (5:40PM) when I have it set to 24hr mode. As I started pressing buttons the response seemed a lot quicker than when I dropped the car off in the monring. Don't know why this update would fix it, unless they've done something else and not told me. Typing a postcode in seemed a lot quicker than before. D5 2017 HSE Lux

Liam - any progress with this? - mine is dire (2012 MY), deadslow postcode input and camera response on reverse takes ages! - dealer was asked to look at it at service & just reported it was the same as another one of that age!!

When we went on holiday a couple of weeks ago, before the weather warmed up, the DAB reception was great, no problems at all. It was then parked up for 2 weeks and since getting back in it has been dire, having to use auto tune and even then it won't always tune into a station that is on the the channel list and when it does it is intermitent.
Is it something to do with the weather that others have noticed or is it another thing for the dealer to investigate at service shortly. Joined the BMWX5 45e group

Hi All,
I hope we're all well.
I have been told that if the system is slow on your D4 we need to get the cars booked in for the dealer to look at. This is because we have found on testing, that certain vehicles are within spec, But there have been cases that have shown the system to be slower than normal which we have taken action on.
If you want me to follow up with the dealers, when the car gets booked in, just send me a PM.
Kind regards,
Liam
