intermittant fault please help
Sometimes, after being parked overnight, when starting to drive I get a series of 3 flashes of the amber parking brake light accompanied by surging power and headlights dimming, the sat nav screen then flashes and appears to reset. It normally stops after 1/4 mile and only happens once and doesn't happen every morning.
local general garage says there are no faults recorded when they plugged in.
Any body any ideas please?

Thanks for that . The battery voltage is reading 11 on the nav screen secret config page before engine start and 14.5 when engine running so I guess the battery is the problem. the flashing screen and warning lights normally kick in 20-30 seconds after start.
I'll try a new battery and report back.

I have finally solved the riddle!
The alternator was kicking out upto 16.5 volts shortly after start up ,leading to the electronics shutting down(presumably a self preservation thing). I found out a new alternator was fitted prior to me buying the vehicle and the garages supplier have now said similar fault is the subject of chatter on forums ,and it is not compatible.
So,different new alternator fitted -problem solved!
