| Xmas tree lights & P2290 code |

So about a month ago I had the dreaded dash light up like a Xmas tree, and all the usual fault messages (engine system fault, gears not availible, suspension lowereing, etc, etc). I stopped, switched off, waited 30 seconds, switched back on, all OK, journey continued.
I've done about 5 or 600 miles over the past month without issue, then today 3 times, same problem. First after about 200miles, then again after about 20, then again after about 1. Every time, switched off, and restarted OK.
Using my BAS box, the only fault code stored is P2290, which when I check this on Pete's site says:
"Injector control pressure too low"
Any ideas what causes this, and how to fix it??

Might be at code is not related to the Chrimbo tree event, worth changing the brake pedal switch or any duff/new brake bulbs?

This code has been caused, would you believe it, by the fuel filter being incorrectly installed, or of course clogged.
Fuel pump problem?

Fuel filter was replaced at last service at the end of Feb - if this, wouldnt I have seen a fault before now?
I like the idea of this, as its relatively easy to fix.

Mine did something similar. Then one time it didnt restart ....
It was the Fuel pump.

Arent there 2, a low pressure pump in the tank, and a high presure one - which one failed?
Did you have the same code?

It was the LP Pump in the tank. I didnt have access to the codes (dont have a fault code reader), the AA man diagnosed the problem. 4x4 garage fixed it for me and cleared the codes without telling me the code.....

I've seen comments about incorrect fuel filter fitting, but mines an 09, and from looking in my haynes manual, it looks like its the earlier models where you can fit the filter incorrectly. It doesnt look like you can do this on the later models, as the filter design is different.

NJ - dont know. The guy I use tends to use genuine, but in this case I'd have to check.

go into engine bay and look for the tyre schraeder style valve with a grey cap on towards the rear of the engine in the centre.unscrew cap and with the ignition on depress the valve in the centre.the fuel should flow out at about 10 psi or like a slow tap flowing.chance is it wont be and the pump in the tank is fubar.
a peuguot 607 hdi one is the same and will cost about 30 quid off ebay.

OK - so if I try that, wont it p!ss diesel all over the engine? What can you/do you catch the deisel in?

a 5 second push is all thats required with the ignition on.someone else to turn key may be helpful.A rag will catch everything in this short space of time.if nothing is flowing the fuel pump is not working
