I've got some Halfords vouchers to spend and need cross bars before i buy a rack in the new year.
Q - If i buy Thule bars am I tied to fitting a Thule rack?
Don't actually like Thule racks and was hoping to buy a decent one on the forum as and when someone sells.
Cheers. Badda bing.......How you doin'?

Well the main racks sold on here (LR/Frontrunner/etc etc) don't require cross bars, so be very clear what you want/need before you buy I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

The ones i have seen all seem to clamp to the roof rails not cross bars
Its logical really otherwise the centre of gravity would be getting very high, if the rack bolted onto the cross bars I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

goodfella - Rhino platform/basket needs cross-bars. And one of the clamp fittings is for Thule bars. Don't know if this is what you are thinking of.
Look in Ronp's gallery and you will see his. And here is a post about it. http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic32438.html?highlight=rack
Or take a look here - http://www.boab.biz/Pages/RHINO-RACK,%20Au...20BOAB.htm The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

Cheers JF Lux, that's exactly the look I had in mind and less expensive than I imagined too. Thanks for searching for that thread and link. Think I'll PM RonP and ask a bit more. Badda bing.......How you doin'?
