Can I add a OEM switch to OEM back up sensors?
My 08 LR3 has factory back up sensors (no front sensors) it doesn’t have a switch to shut them off. When I back up to my trailer, it’s really annoying. I noticed in some pics of other LR3’s, it looks like some have a switch on the dash to turn them off.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks,
Joe

The problem is that when you plug the trailer in it should disable the sensors, but if your trailer has LED's for the turn signals and no resistor is fitted the problem you have will happen. Check trailer connections as it is not being seen by the vehicle.

My lights are LED. I don’t think it shuts off. It’s also annoying backing up to hook it up with them beeping. I am hoping I can add a factory switch. My truck I can turn off which I really like.

Do you have the switch pack with 2 buttons either side of the hazard switch, but the one immediately to the left is blank?
If so you need this one, YUL500440WUX, which you can pick up for less than $20 used:

The other question would be whether you have the grey+rounded top corners or black+square top corners buttons - the part number above is the round grey ones.
Edit: YUL501440 would be black+square equivalent with the 4 buttons as above

Mine looks like this:
Mine is black, with rounded corners. Wonder if they have that as an option, or if I can swap the front cover?
That would be sweet if I don’t need to change out a harness.
Thanks,
Joe

Based on a GS that i fitted front park sensors to with an older style grey finish switch pack, the unit was just plugged straight into the existing loom and worked, once i tested this i stripped the black cover off my old switch pack for the grey cover on the earlier model switch pack i fitted.
You still need to activate the towing harness option on an IID or equivalent though to get the towing features of the trailer light on the dash and the height setting change to stop the vehicle lowering/raising when the trailer is attached without being told to.Must stop buying shiny toys....

Black, round corners:

Not as cheap as the others though.
You might want to buy the grey/round or black/square one and swap your black/round face plate over:
Grey/round: YUL500440WUX
Black/square: YUL501440
Black/round: YUL50134006 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

From memory you just ease up the clips along the top and bottom edge of the cover, (4 on the top and same on the bottom as on Martins first picture with a flat blade (rectangular shaped) I dont remember having to remove any screws but there might be some on the backMust stop buying shiny toys....

Thanks everyone! I’ll buy the cheaper one and plug
it in first to see if it even works. If it does I’ll try to swap the faces.

Are the square ones for a range rover sport perhaps.
So many combinations they must make when you consider all the buttons that can be had on them. Active cruise, tyre pressure monitor?
