Rear Boot Door Sensor and Ventlock
When I leave the dogs in the back I use a Ventlock bar to lock to top door open to allow them some air.
This unfortunatly means that when I lock the car I get the horn warning that the vehicle is unlocked.
Where would the sensor be?
Does anyone know if I can fool it into thinking its locked?

The sensor switch is in the latch on the lower tailgate.
When the Ventlock bar is hooked onto the loop on the upper tailgate, then the loop end of the bar is fully engaged in the latch, it should signal that the tailgate is closed - mine does anyway
Just need to press the keyfob lock button twice then (to de-activate the internal sensor) and you're good to go.Clive

CR,
Thanks for the response, however its never done that, its not an issue its just a little irritating.
I'm guessing there is another sensor somewhere.

I use a ventlock bar too, it worked without any issue for two years but for some reason it 'toots' the horn now I just haven't bothered to look yet

the Ventlock is a good product, however being tight I made my own version and in doing so realised that you need to ensure the catch goes in fully (two clicks) as otherwise the car thinks the boot isn't actually shut
Not nearly as secure as you would think though, so I would never leave unattended for more than a few minutes - the whole leaving dogs in warm cars debate not withstanding.and theeeeennn......???

Ha Ha victory is mine
Sat here having a coffee and started to think why the horn sounds normally, its when the door half latches.
There two positions on the door latch, the latching eye on the Ventlock is a little shorter and when you normally fit them you fit the top tail gate first screw that shut and then fiddle the eye into the latch.
A combination of an awkward angle for you hand and probably lazyness you tend to push it until it clicks and then pull it back to see it its latched.
This is the first position on the lock, hence the horn alarm
With the tail gate up I pushed the latch using a screwdrive two click and then check the alarm, no horn sound.
Mental note for future two clicks not one

You need to do the first click carefully and holding the vent lock with your hand to guide it in... (oo-er) then give it a shove on the second clock which can sound rather unnerving but it's fine.
Locks perfectly every time.MY15 DIY Black Pack (Better than factory and half the price!)

Good point I've been using a shorter version (yellow) which seems to have a shorter eye/latch piece, just tried the red one and its fine

Something to watch for - if you have left it with the horn sounding then walking off you've left it unlocked as well.
When the horn beeps then you can still use the internal button (now visible and available thanks to the vent lock) on the tailgate hatch to open it up
When using the vent lock I have Dexter locked in a TRansK9 plus the cargo barrier plus nothing of value left in the car so safe enough for me MY15 DIY Black Pack (Better than factory and half the price!)

Dubbs,
The vehicle does lock, ever tried to get back in your car when the door has latched
I checked this when I first used it years ago, the top gate button does not work, the lower one does but it is still connected to the top Tail gate, so there is still no way into the vehicle other than attacking the ventlock, which is noisy, time consuming and unless they are 5" slim no way in.
This is all while the dogs in the back are going mental.
I'll always remember a program years ago about how easy it is to break into cars, it had this reformed criminal IIRC walking around a car park taking about each car to the camera.
He approached a crappy fiesta I think and very cocky walked upto it telling the camera how simple it would be to break in and steal it, just as he touched the handle up pops a furry land shark and scares the living daylights out of him.
He simply looks at the camera and says thats the best car alarm you can have.

this bit:
" so there is still no way into the vehicle other than attacking the ventlock, which is noisy, time consuming and unless they are 5" slim no way in."
is incorrect; you can (as I discovered when fabricating my own ventlock-esque bar) be in without regard for the Ventlock bar or actually breaking or sawing anything, in about 15 seconds and theeeeennn......???

Tell me more on a PM then please as I've looked at it and thought it to be reasonably secure without having o make a hell of a lot of noise and be obviously breaking in. MY15 DIY Black Pack (Better than factory and half the price!)
