Help remove rounded bolt on anti roll bar bush
Hello everyone,
I have just joined the forum having recently bought a 2006 disco 3.
I had a number of Land Rovers in the past including serier 11a, Defender 90 and TD5 90. Also two door Range Rover.
Having read others changing disco 3 anti roll bar bushes decided to change mine as there was a knocking when driving on uneven road.
All went well on the front although very awkward to say the least but done.
Rear nearside done but noticed that someone must have undone it to put the extra spacer in.
Problem- offside bolt almost out when it rounded off. Cannot get the last bit out nor tighten it back up.
Anyone know how to overcome this problem. Roll bar only held on with one bolt tight and other one half out.
Help please
Derek

Hi and welcome,
Irwin do a tool for this,
A bit like sockets but grab the rounded off nut.
Or cut it of and put a new bolt and nut on, if that's possible
Depends how quick you need it sorted?

Irwin bolt extractors, or a 6 point socket, if it isn't too badly damaged My D3 Build Thread

Irwin do that daft thing where there is the master set with empty holes in the box for extra sizes, hidden behind cardboard, then sell an expansion pack separately in order to fill them. But they are very useful items.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

anti roll bar bushes
Quite right why wait for Saturday.
Replaced last bush on boxing day, got soaked but all done for the snow on the afternoon.
Driving much quieter but still a 'bumping' noise front nearside quarter which I have to solve. Any ideas would be helpful.

irwin extracter
Yes the Irwin extractor was great but stupid me found the ratchet stuck between chasis and bush bracket so had to saw through bolt with hacksaw blade to release it. Always learning !!

We were probably remiss for not mentioning it as you are certainly not the first to have trapped a tool. It is all too easy to trap the flip-over style of ratchet spanner in some circumstances too. No doubt you have noted the hex on the outside of the Irwin's for a regular spanner.
For low overhead clearance work such as this I find the Halfords vortex thru-style of ratchet handy as they are very shallow:
