OK getting nowhere with this.
Changed the LPFP because the pressure at the schrader valve was fluctuating with the engine running and the current draw seemed low. But changing the pump didn't alter anything.
I have been logging some parameters as the fault occurs but I am not really sure what to make of them.
Here is a screen shot of the fuel pressure from the iid tool. It starts with everything reset (no faults) I drive off and after about 30 secs the car goes into limp.
Am I correct in thinking that the fuel pressure is always too low? The peak is 65K kPa . The fault generated this time was P0087-00.

you need to differentiate the measurements. ID tool measure HPFP, the fluctuations on the valve indicates problem on the LP side (pump inclusive).
HPFP will generate P0087 fault if the LP side is not working properly. it is a self protect reaction to avoid cavitation.

it could be a case were both LP and HP sides are faulty but again this fluctuation is caused cause of the LP side. at least my view!

I had the same fault codes occasionally.

Disappeared when my mechanic changed the TC.

Tried the forum to find out why, nut got no answers.

Have you treid the classical: Brake bulbs and brake switch?

Thank you. Dutch, those figures look a lot higher than mine.
For those who like figures, I spent this morning checking the plumbing and measuring flow rates.
All the fuel lines look in good condition, I blew down the feed pipe from the pump to the filter and from the schrader down to the joint near the fuel heater, both are clear. I then checked the flow at 3 points;
1 at the disconnect on for the schrader valve/hpfp, this was 1.5 L/min.
2 at the disconnect near the fuel heater (ie just after the filter), this was 2.1 L/min
3 at the filter inlet (filter bracket, with filter removed), this was 2.4 L/min
All these were with a battery voltage of 11.5 volts, the current draw was always around 3.4 Amps
With it all connected back up and the engine running the voltage and current are both stable when measured at the fuse.

I think that the lpfp is probably ok as this numbers would be better with the engine running and 14+ volts available.

Finally have the Disco working properly again.
After changing most of the cheap bits, including the brake pedal switch and brake bulbs, I took the plunge and purchased a HPFP.
The fault was occurring as soon as you pulled away, I have driven about 20 miles, locally, this evening with no misbehaviour.
The hardest part of the HPFP change was removing and refitting the oil breather manifold.
Thanks again to everyone who contributed to this thread. Thumbs Up
 Simon.
