Is your steering wheel off centre?

Mine seems to be about 1 - 1.5 inches anti clockwise so if you hold it at the correct position, vehicle goes off right!!!

Is it me Question Question

My D2 was like this, cured with a few twists of track rod ends as I recall.

D3 is top dead centre Thumbs Up
What if the "Hokey Cokey" really is what it's all about?

No

You need to get your tracking checked. Then get the wheel set up. Its a dealer removal and ref-fit, so Ive been told, there is a special tool to disengage/remove the air bag.

Its easy to adjust, the dealer simply unbolts the steering wheel and re-fits it on the correct spline.

Don't need a dealer to remove the wheel, I have done it myself to swap the nasty plastic one on the GS for a nice leather one from Yeovil. There are various safety precations to take as you are removing the airbag module but as long as the car has gone to sleep and the battery is then disconnected it is easy.

Tool needed can be made from a bit of stiff wire. There is a thread on here about fitting the radio buttons that shows the tool. Will try and post a link.

See here

Once the airbag is unplugged the wheel comes off with a 12mm socket and can be re-centred if required (assuming tracking etc is OK)

Does shifting the wheel around move the indicator cancelling stops too, or will they remain offset?

Thats what I was led to believe, hence the track rod adjustment. I'm no mechanic but I thought equal turns on either side but in opposite directions will push the road wheels across but leave the steering wheel and related bits in the same place???

Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil YES

This has been a constant problem of mine since I had the lower steering column replaced as part of a TSB. It has been in 4 times to have it re-aligned and still is not right. The dealership has been adjusting it via the track rod ends.... and before any one asks, the tracking is correct. Recently there was two significant jolts (bangs) in the steering and the wheel would go out of alignment even further, I thought it had jumped splines on the steering rack, called LRA who inspected it and found the nuts on the track rod ends were loose, rack was OK.

Given up for now, when it go's in for a service at a different dealership I will ask them to adjust it again…. Hopefully correctly. At no point did the dealership attempt to adjust it by removing the steering wheel.

This issue is a huge pet hate of mine Twisted Evil Twisted Evil
